PROJECT OVERVIEW
A personal project dedicated to my Dad who passed away in 2020. He always said I should paint a ‘Murial of gum trees’ on the laneway wall behind my house.

The Finished Mural
Mural finished size: 6.75 x 3.6 metres.
The Process - Design
Began toying with a sketch.
Experimenting with giant stencils.
Giant stencils with Maisie for scale.
The final design utilises repetition, so I’ll have less stencils to make.
The Process - Production
Permission granted from the neighbours, let the fun begin!
The before shot.
Half the work of painting is prep.
My scaffold arrives!
Yay scaffold!
Now I can start stage 1: undercoat.
Those grout lines though… so much work…
Finally, a white canvas!
Eeek! Too bright!
That’s better, phew. Colour testing.
Used chalk to trace around the giant stencils.
Then started filling with white paint.
Then adding colour over the white. Pretty chuffed with how it’s working.
Progress.
Progress.
Progress.
One night we have a visitor!
Dude! These gum trees ain’t realz!
Two.
Coats.
Later.
Murial is finished! So happy with the result :)
